Frequently asked

Questions from parents.

Which grades does FCA serve?

FCA currently supports learners from Grade R through Grade 7.

How is a tutor centre different from a school?

FCA is a tutor centre that supports families using their chosen homeschool curriculum and helps learners with specific subjects. Unlike a school, FCA is not registered as an independent school with the provincial Department of Education. Parents or guardians remain responsible for registering their child for home education and for meeting the applicable legal requirements.

Who issues my child’s reports, and can they be used when returning to a mainstream school?

Your chosen homeschool curriculum provider, such as Impaq or another recognised provider, issues the learner’s reports in line with its programme requirements. FCA does not issue report cards; our tutors support learners as they understand and complete their curriculum work. Provider-issued CAPS reports can be presented to a mainstream school as part of its transfer, placement or admissions process.

How many learners are in each FCA learning group?

FCA limits each classroom group to a maximum of 10 learners. Keeping groups small gives tutors more time to support each learner personally, respond to individual needs and allow progress at an appropriate pace.

What are FCA’s operating hours?

The academic day runs from 08:00 to 14:00. Aftercare runs from 14:00 to 17:00, while daycare operates from 08:00 to 17:00.

Does FCA provide support for different learning needs?

Yes. FCA offers individual academic support and neurodiversity programmes. Please enquire so the team can discuss your child’s needs with you.
